A rose, is a rose, is a rose, is a….

Romantic? The models were self conscious, flirty, sexy and charming during Hunkemollers FW11 fashion show, to say the least!
Smiling faces and models who are actually making contact with the audience, what an improvement! Bra’s and panties in emeraldgreen, black and flowerprints are switching within high speed on the catwalk. ‘Women in bloom’ is the central theme of this collection and represents women who feel their blossom time of life everyday. According to your mood you can choose a piece that suits you perfectly. Romantic?

’Come out and play’ with Roparosa

Jul. 21st 2010 by Amy Simpe (former Fesjon author)

Amsterdam – Roos van de Kamp started her label Roparose -meaning Rosa’s clothes – won the Dutch edition of Project Catwalk. Part of her prize was a chance to show a collection at Amsterdam’s International Fashion Week. Last Sunday she got the chance to do so.

It was a hot outside and it was hot in the salon. Some visitors used their fans from Redken to scare the heat away. It wasn’t until the first model hit the runway that I forgot about the heat.

The Collection Roos had show the jury during the finally of Project Catwalk aroused lots of controversy. Some people did not believe that she had done all the work herself.  Ans so expectations were set high. Would she be able to do what she had done before? With a new concept and the same quality?

The lost tribes

Jul. 20th 2010 by Mariana Davelaar (editor)

We return to the world NON by Kim from the cold fall/winter collection 2010 from last edition, and we transported to the spring/summer collection of 2011. The collection has been inspierd by “uncotacted people” also known as “Th lost tribes”.
The fascination for this subject lies within the fact that, these people live, or have lived without significant contact with other civilizations.

The colors where very sober, earth tones, white, blue en green accents. The collection wasn’t very spectacular this time with shorts, shirts, sweaters, pants but the lining and details where very nice exactly like we accepted from designer Kim Bakker.

For the collection Kim used Japanese denim, wool/linen mixes, ultra light weight sweats and organic and recycled cottons. All knits were personally designed by Kim.

AIFW: Daryl van Wouw

Jul. 20th 2010 by Majdeline Abbou (former reporter)

One of the highlights of Amsterdam International Fashion Week last week was Daryl van Wouw. Daryl was the conversation of the week and indeed!

The show started much later than expected. It was fully packed, that there were no seatings or standing places left anymore. Last Saturday Daryl showed his Spring/Summer collection inspired by the song ‘Paradise Circus’ of the American band Massice Attack. This collection is totally different then we expected from Daryl.
No ‘street’ look this time. But loud colors such as green, yellow, blue and red in all models hair. Daryl showed different designs like short dresses, shorts, jumpsuits and leather sandals. For all lovers he also showed some designs made of (soft) leather.

Particularly the show had a foreign look. I said it before, no ‘street’ look but we could call it ‘Street Chic’.
