Amsterdam – Roos van der Kamp richtte haar label Roparosa -vrijvertaalt de kleren van Rosa – en won vorig jaar de Nederlandse editie van Project Catwalk. Hierbij sleepte ze onder andere de kans om tijdens de afgelopen editie van AIFW een eigen collectie te laten zien. Afgelopen zondag was het zover. Roos van de Kamp started her label Roparose -meaning Rosa’s clothes – won the Dutch edition of Project Catwalk. Part of her prize was a chance to show a collection at Amsterdam’s International Fashion Week. Last Sunday she got the chance to do so.

Het was een warme dag en warm in de salon. Sommige bezoekers probeerden de warmte met waaiers van Redken te verdrijven. Het hielp niet helemaal, maar op het moment dat de eerste model de catwalk op wandelde was ik de warmte al vergeten. It was a hot outside and it was hot in the salon. Some visitors used their fans from Redken to scare the heat away. It wasn’t until the first model hit the runway that I forgot about the heat.

De collectie die Roos tijdens de finale van Project Catwalk (PC) presenteerde had veel losgemaakt. Niet iedereen kon of wilde geloven dat ze de creaties allemaal eigenhandig gemaakt had. De verwachtingen waren dan ook hooggespannen. Zou ze iets volkomen nieuws kunnen laten zien, zouden het concept en de uitwerkingen net zo goed zijn als toen? The Collection Roos had show the jury during the finally of Project Catwalk aroused lots of controversy. Some people did not believe that she had done all the work herself.  Ans so expectations were set high. Would she be able to do what she had done before? With a new concept and the same quality?

De collectie was minimalistisch en voelde aan als een soort light versie van wat ze tijdens de finale van PC had laten zien. Ze had zich duidelijk weer laten inspireren door sportkleding en ook brede schouders die tijdens haar eerdere collectie te zien waren kwamen terug. Verder speelde ze met scherpe lijnen die soms in de silhouette en soms door de kleur combinaties van de stoffen zichtbaar waren. The collection “Come out and play” was minimalistic and came across as a light version of the collection she showed during Project Catwalk. She had obviously been inspired by sports like she had before, and created the same strong silhouettes we had seen before.

De collectie was mooi (draagbaarder, maar nog steeds edgy). Alleen voelde het stiekem niet alsof ik naar iets heel nieuws aan het kijken was. Met name het gebruik van de kleuren blauw, naar roodneigend oranje en nude kleuren en ook het gebruik van leer deden me heel erg aan de PC collectie denken. Wat een beetje jammer was. Her latest collection is much more wearable and still has a little edge too it, which I liked. It did, however, not feel as new as I wished it would. The nude, reddish orange and blue colors reminded me of her Project catwalk collection. As did the returning us of leather.

Dat neemt niet weg dat ze mooie creaties heeft neergezet en we uitkijken naar haar volgende collecties. This does not take away from the fact that she showed up with some beautiful pieces. We’ll be curiously looking forward to her next collection.
