Paul Graham – a shimmer of possibility
Deze tentoonstelling laat een aantal werken zien die levendig inzicht geven in gewone momenten in het leven van mensen die Graham op zijn reizen is tegengekomen. Een voorbeeld is een man die gras aan het maaien is of iemand die bij de bushalte staat te wachten. De foto’s overstijgen de nominale onderwerpen en beschrijven aspecten van het dagelijks leven dat door de fotograaf met aandacht en nieuwsgierigheid zijn toegekend.

Paul Graham – a shimmer of possibility
This exhibition shows some works that give lively insight in the regular moments in the life of people Graham met while traveling. An example is a man who’s mowing his grass or someone that’s waiting at the bus stop. The photographs transcend the nominal designs and describe aspects of the daily life that were granted with attention and curiosity by the photographer.

Cuny Janssen – My Grandma was a Turtle
De titel van het nieuwste project van fotograaf Cuny Janssen verwijst naar de Turtle-clan van de matriarchale indianenstam Delaware uit Oklahoma. In 2008 bezocht Janssen het dorp Bartlesville in Oklahoma om kinderen met ‘Native American’ voorouders en hun omgeving te fotograferen. Aanleiding was haar nieuwsgierigheid naar wat er bij de moderne indianenkinderen nog te zien is van hun afkomst. Zowel haar foto’s van mensen als de landschappelijke beelden zijn onbevangen, tijdloos en worden gekenmerkt door een subtiele lyriek.

Cuny Janssen – My Grandma was a Turtle
The title of the newest project from photographer Cuny Janssen refers to the Turtle-clan from the matriarchal Indian-tribe Delaware from Oklahoma. In 2008 Janssen visited the village Bartlesville in Oklahoma to photograph children with ‘Native American’ ancestors and their environment. The occasion was her curiosity about what can still be seen from the origin of the modern Indian children. Both her photographs of people and the landscape images are candid, timeless and are characterized by a subtle lyricism.

Hans van den Bogaard – Collectie Vrolik
Deze particuliere collectie van professor Gerardus Vrolik (1775-1859) en zijn zoon professor Willem Vrolik (1801-1863) omvat anatomische, pathologisch-anatomische, zoologische en teratologische preparaten. Na de dood van Willem Vrolik dreigde zijn collectie te worden verkocht. Een commissie uit de Amsterdamse burgerij wist haar in 1869 integraal te verwerven, en droeg haar over aan de gemeente. De collectie ligt aan de basis van het omvangrijkere Museum Vrolik dat wordt beheerd door het AMC. In opdracht van het AMC heeft Hans van den Bogaard een selectie uit de collectie gefotografeerd die speciaal voor de tentoonstelling zijn afgedrukt en samen met enkele originele preparaten worden getoond.

Hans van den Bogaard – Collectie Vrolik
This private collection of Professor Gerardus Vrolik (1775-1859) and his son Professor William Vrolik (1801-1863) includes anatomical, pathological-anatomical, zoological and teratology specimens. After the death of William Vrolik threatened his collection to be sold. A committee from the Amsterdam bourgeoisie did in its 1869 full gain, and carried her over to the municipality. The collection is the basis of the larger museum Vrolik managed by the AMC. Commissioned by the AMC, Hans van den Bogaard a selection from the collection photographed specially for the exhibition are printed along with some original preparations are shown.

Simon Waldt-Lasowski – The Evil Eye
Foam heeft Simon Wald-Lasowski (Parijs 1980) uitgenodigd om een evoluerende tentoonstelling te maken voor de zomer. Wald-Lasowski is gefascineerd door ‘het oog’, dit is dan ook het thema van de tentoonstelling. ‘Ogen/Visies’ is al vaak vertegenwoordigd in verschillende culturen, religies en kunstvormen. Van het ‘oog van Horus’ naar het ‘alziend oog van God’ op de Amerikaanse dollar tot het iconische ‘Indestructible Object’ van Man Ray en vele werken van zowel Dali als Magritte rondom dit onderwerp.
Maar ‘Ogen/Visies’ zijn nog steeds een zeer relevant onderwerp van vandaag de dag. Denk bijvoorbeeld aan de issues rondom privacy, overheidstoezicht en de burka. Wald-Lasowski vond een nieuwe manier om de symboliek rondom ‘het oog’ te interpreteren. Hij vertaalt de oude betekenissen naar een moderne, frisse en persoonlijke manier. De expositie is een verzameling van losse speelse beelden met een donkere, paranoïde twist. Iedere paar weken zal de tentoonstelling groeien en veranderen door ingreep van gast- kunstenaars en designers die Wald-Lasowski uitnodigt.

Simon Waldt-Lasowski – The Evil Eye
Foam invited Simon Wald-Lasowski (Paris 1980) to an evolving exhibition for the summer. Wald-Lasowski is fascinated by the ‘eye’, this is also the theme of the exhibition. ‘Eyes / Visions “is often represented in different cultures, religions and arts. From the “Eye of Horus ‘to the’ all-seeing eye of God” on the U.S. dollar to the iconic “Indestructible Object” by Man Ray and many works by Magritte and Dali both around this topic.
But “Eyes / Visions’ are still a very relevant issue today. Think of the issues surrounding privacy, government surveillance and the burka. Wald-Lasowski found a new way of symbolism around the ‘eye’ to interpret. He translates the old meanings into a modern, fresh and personal way. The exhibition is a playful collection of individual images with a dark, paranoid twist. Every few weeks the exhibition will grow and change through intervention of guest artists and designers Wald-Lasowski invites.

Inez van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadin – Pretty Much Everything 1985-2010
Het wereldberoemde fotografenduo Inez van Lamsweerde en Vinoodh Matadin begonnen hun samenwerking in 1986 in Amsterdam. Nu, 25 jaar later, mogen ze zich met campagnes voor modehuizen als YSL, Chanel, Balmain, Gucci, Louis Vuitton en Cloé en met regelmatige publicaties in W Magazine, Vogue en The New York Times rekenen tot de belangrijkste fotografen ter wereld. Ze behoren tot de weinige kunstenaars die de grens tussen mode en kunst met succes hebben weten te overschrijden en tegelijkertijd in beide vakgebieden werkzaam zijn gebleven. Het duo woont en werkt sinds 1995 in New York.
Foam zal ongeveer 300 foto’s vertonen die 25 jaar uit de carrière van het duo beslaan. Kunstfoto’s, modefoto’s en portretten bestaan naast elkaar. Een chronologische volgorde ontbreekt; de beelden zijn ingedeeld op persoonlijke, formele, sociale, politieke en intuïtieve associaties waaruit blijkt hoe ze de afgelopen 25 jaar deel hebben uitgemaakt van het leven van de kunstenaars.

Inez van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadin – Pretty Much Everything 1985-2010
The world-renowned photographers Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin started working together in 1986 in Amsterdam. Now, 25 years later, they are in campaigns for fashion houses like YSL, Chanel, Balmain, Gucci, Louis Vuitton and Chloe with regular publications in W Magazine, Vogue and The New York Times they belong to the most important photographers in the world. They are among the few artists that the boundary between fashion and art have successfully managed to cross while working in both areas remained. The duo has lived and worked since 1995 in New York.
Foam will show about 300 photos that cover 25 years in the career of the duo. Art photos, fashion shots and portraits coexist. A chronological sequence is missing, the images are classified on personal, formal, social, political and intuitive associations showing how the past 25 years have belonged to the lives of artists.
