Er lijkt soms geen einde te komen aan de problemen op ‘planeet aarde.’  Terwijl enerzijds niets meer onmogelijk lijkt te zijn, is een groot deel van de wereldbevolking niet (of nog net) in staat zichzelf van hun dagelijkse behoeften als eten te voorzien. Ethiopische topmodel & actrice Liya Kebede doet het  lijken, alsof het oplossen van die problemen eigenlijk niet zo ingewikkeld is. Je weet wel, zoals één plus één is twee. Ze  is namelijk niet alleen VN ambassadeur, maar startte ook kledinglijn voor vrouwen en kinderen genaamd Lemlem - het betekent bloeien of floreren - om mensen in Ethiopie te helpen. Miss Kebede started a clothing line for women and childeren called Lemlem – meaning to bloom or florish.

Het idee ontstond tijdens haar reizen naar Ethiopie. “I saw dozens of abandoned textile factories [and] (…) people kept asking me to help them find work. So I thought I could make use of my experience in fashion to commercialize their products outside of Ethiopia.” Alle producten van Lemlem zijn naar eeuwe oude (Ethiopische) traditie van met de handgewoven katoen gemaakt in Ethiopie. De ontwerpen en het kleur gebruik hebben iets puurs en simpels.
