Sofitel Hotel/Polka Photo-exhibition
Sofitel Luxury Hotels gaat als ambassadeur van de Franse cultuur en elegantie opnieuw in zee met de Parijse galerie Polka. Het hele jaar door zal er in tien Sofitel Hotels een internationale fototentoonstelling rond mode plaatsvinden. Dus ben je in de buurt van London, New York, Washington, Berlijn, Chicago, Rome of Los Angeles? Dan is het zeker de moeite waard om deze foto-expositie te bezoeken! As ambassador of the French culture and elegance Sofitel Luxury Hotels will collaborate once again with the Parisian gallery. An international exhibition around fashion will take place in ten Sofitel Hotels through the entire year. So are you in the neighbourhood of London, New York, Washington, Berlin, Chicago, Rome or Los Angeles? Then this photo-exhibition is definitely worth visiting!
De tentoonstelling bevat werk van vier grote fotografen: Derek Hudson, Cathleen Naundorf, Jean-Marie Périer en Gérard Uféras. Zij legden unieke momenten uit de intieme en mysterieuze wereld van de haute couture vast, met foto’s van onder meer Dior, Chanel, Jean-Paul Gaultier en Yves St Laurent…The exposition includes work from four top photographers: Derek Hudson, Cathleen Naundorf, Jean-Marie Périer and Gérard Uféras. They captured unique moments from the intimate and mysterious world of haute couture, with photo’s from Dior, Chanel, Jean-Paul Gaultier, Yves Saint Laurent and more…
De tentoonstelling werd op 9 februari 2010 op symbolische wijze gelijktijdig geopend in Sofitel New York (Verenigde Staten) en Sofitel London Saint James (Verenigd Koninkrijk). In die week werd ook de New Yorkse Fashion Week geopend. Twee gelijktijdige vernissages in aanwezigheid van twee van de vier betrokken fotografen, Cathleen Naundorf in New York en Derek Hudson in Londen. The exhibition had a symbolic opening on februari 9th 2010 at the Sofitel New York (US) as well as at the Sofitel London Saint James (UK). This happend in the same week that the New York Fashion Week was opened.

Cathleen Naundorf is geboren in 1968 en deze Duitse fotografe is vooral bekend om haar bijzondere visie op de fotografie als nauw verbonden met de schilderkunst en om haar gebruik van de polaroidcamera. Vanwege haar originele portfolio ging ze nauw samenwerken met John Galliano en Jean-Paul Gaultier en is ze vandaag de dag een graag geziene figuur in de wereld van de haute couture. Cathleen Naundorf was born in 1968 and this German photographer is particularly known for her special view on photography as closely related to the art of painting and for her use of the polaroidcamera. Because of her original portfolio she teamed-up with John Galliano and Jean-Paul Gaultier and is a popular figure in the world of haute couture today.
Derek Hudson is een Engelse fotograaf die al op heel jonge leeftijd de smaak van de fotografie te pakken kreeg. Hij liet zich inspireren door de clichés waarop films uit de jaren zestig waren gebasseerd, zoals ‘Blow-Up’ van Antonioni. Later verhuisde Hudson naar Londen, waar hij de bekende fotojournalist Terry Fincher ontmoette, die later zijn mentor werd. Jarenlang deelde Derek Hudson zijn kijk op de wereld in het tijdschrift ‘Life Magazine’.Derek Hudson is an English photographer that got a taste of photography at a young age. He was inspired by the cliche on wich movies from the 60′s were based on, like ‘Blow-Up’ from Antonioni. Later, Hudson moved to London where he met the famous photojournalist Terry Fincher, who later became his mentor. Derek Hudson shared his view on the world in ‘Life Magazine’ for years.
