Have you met the mermaids of Dagmar?
As if they wearing pearls in their hair..pearly, romantic, and robust are the key elements of next summer. As if they struck down from a fairytale……those models.. look like real mermaids..boulevard of stolen and broken dreams.

Friday the 16th of July the Sepehr Summer Show took place during the AIFW. As a show location the designer chose the round pond at the Westerpark because of the fairytale-like atmosphere. The accompanying music was a live opera singer which made the fashion fairytale complete.

A rose, is a rose, is a rose, is a….
Romantic? The models were self conscious, flirty, sexy and charming during Hunkemollers FW11 fashion show, to say the least!
Smiling faces and models who are actually making contact with the audience, what an improvement! Bra’s and panties in emeraldgreen, black and flowerprints are switching within high speed on the catwalk. ‘Women in bloom’ is the central theme of this collection and represents women who feel their blossom time of life everyday. According to your mood you can choose a piece that suits you perfectly. Romantic?

Amsterdam – Roos van de Kamp started her label Roparose -meaning Rosa’s clothes – won the Dutch edition of Project Catwalk. Part of her prize was a chance to show a collection at Amsterdam’s International Fashion Week. Last Sunday she got the chance to do so.
It was a hot outside and it was hot in the salon. Some visitors used their fans from Redken to scare the heat away. It wasn’t until the first model hit the runway that I forgot about the heat.
The Collection Roos had show the jury during the finally of Project Catwalk aroused lots of controversy. Some people did not believe that she had done all the work herself. Ans so expectations were set high. Would she be able to do what she had done before? With a new concept and the same quality?

Saturday the 17th of July Conny Groenewegen presented her collection in her own unique way during AIFW. The show takes place outside, where a labyrinth is created by plasticized pallet blocks on which the public can sit down. Both the public and the models are wearing headphones through which the accompanying music of the show sounds. At the beginning of the show the models come out wrapped in plastic like cocoons. When they are liberated from their cocoons the beautiful creations become visible.

We return to the world NON by Kim from the cold fall/winter collection 2010 from last edition, and we transported to the spring/summer collection of 2011. The collection has been inspierd by “uncotacted people” also known as “Th lost tribes”.
The fascination for this subject lies within the fact that, these people live, or have lived without significant contact with other civilizations.
The colors where very sober, earth tones, white, blue en green accents. The collection wasn’t very spectacular this time with shorts, shirts, sweaters, pants but the lining and details where very nice exactly like we accepted from designer Kim Bakker.
For the collection Kim used Japanese denim, wool/linen mixes, ultra light weight sweats and organic and recycled cottons. All knits were personally designed by Kim.

Qouc Thang SS11 ‘The past moment’
On screen we watched, right under the name of the designer, a shield with two crossed axes. I associated it immediately with the Middleages, knights, castles and noble women.
Could I be more wrong? When a woodlike scent fills the space and do I hear birds whistling? The super males who are walking on the catwalk are revealing a little more of this mystery…
Thang refers with his central theme to ”The male image of a woodworker’ . Tough materials like wool, leather and linen but also polyesters and nylon are well represented in his SS11 collection.
The special details like extra folds along the shoulders, leather linings on the trousers and tops and slide buttons are instantly being noticed on the garments. The jacket takes the leading part this evening, especially the parka appears in many different forms.
My personal favorite is the sleeveless nylon parka with a huge hood and the formalized woodworkers coat. The collection never bores because of the extraordinary colorpalet of bordeaux, grey and blue with red and orange as a coloraccent, on the contrary, it surprises! The modern man may use this ‘axe’ more often!

Marloes Blaas SS 11 ‘Derived’
Last Thursday I watched some trendy farmergirls parade on the catwalk of Marloes Blaas´fashionshow.
The countryside feeling was emphasized by a guitarsolo on the background. Marloes got her inspiration for the SS11 show from the countryside live after the second world war.
We´ve watched a beautiful leather apron, an armygreen overall, painted silk fabrics and flexible forms. Especially the colors kaki, beige, blue and grey were very well represented.
I wasn´t only impressed by the leather apron, the shorts with extra pockets (perfect for festivals) and the long, silk dress but also by the atmosphere which was so well implemented in the whole show. Get over here with that overall, I want to live the farmerlife too!
