‘Une garagesale Extraordinaire!’

Jul. 24th 2010 by Majdeline Abbou (former reporter)

Last week we visited Trash & Treasures during the Amsterdam International Fashion Week. Trash & Treasures, a Downtown programme, is a garage sale where you can find new and vintage clothing, shoes and accessories.
The best shops, brands, work of young designers, artists and many more are a part of this event. We spotted Lilyscloset and Les Tai Tai. There was also a signing session with designer Bas Kosters.

Trash & Treasures is inspired by garage sales in Brick Lane in London and Mauerpark in Berlin. They started 1,5 year ago and now you can find this lovely event (almost) in the whole country.

An ideal place for special items and a lot of other treasures.

Anti Fashion?

Jan. 28th 2010 by Tessa

At least as notorious as it is famous, the Anti fashion Party! The initiative of super designer Bas Koster and star DJ Wannabe a star is promising to be yet another huge success for the 7th time on a row.

This dynamic duo knows how to party like no other. So everybody come to this fashion dump at the Flexbar. It’s all about ANTI fashion. This is the place to be for forgotten models and actors, wannabe’s and all other people who aren’t hip and trendy. How great is it to just act trashy for one night during this fashion week.

Dress up like your favourite stuffed animal, grace yourself with beer caps and go wild on the sounds of Mr. Broekje Vol & Mrs. Bloesje Vol, whom are better known as Bas Koster and Shirley Hart. Again they will make a filthy mess of the dance floor.

A blast from the past is none other than Zubrowka. The Roxy no longer exists but Zubrowka keeps on rockin’.

And let’s not forget the biggest wannabe of all. DJ Wannabe a star will make you sweat till you drop. Perfect opportunity to loose some of the gained kilo’s during the holidays by dancing your ass of.

The Music is clearly nothing to worry about, but let us not forget about the Anti Fashion Awards. Getting one of these awards is almost a bigger achievement then winning an Oscar.

This year again famous fashion faces will hand out the awards for:

-         Anti Fashion Man Award

-         Anti Fashion Woman Award

-         Anti Fashion Label Award

-         Anti Fashion Dancefloor Moves Award

-         Anti Fashion Organization Award

So, if you keep in mind that there are no intimidating guest lists or high entrance fees. Do you need any more reason to come to this party? I don’t think so! Be there and don’t be hip.

Location: Flexbar

Date: 28 January 2010

Time: 23.00 – 04.00

Costs: € 7,-

Act of cowards!!

Dec. 22nd 2009 by Mariana Davelaar (editor)

Monday, December 21st 04.15 a.m., some cowards robbed the Ontfront x Friends clothing store located at the Oude Nieuwstraat 23 in Amsterdam. Collections have been taken from designers: Bas Kosters, Antoine Peters, Xhosa (Giorgio Toppin), Ontour, Phat Oak, Hue Tran, Fromanteel, Patrick Mohr, Silvio and OntFront.

Around 05.00 a.m. the owners, Liza Kofman and Tomas Overtoom, were informed by the local police. The perpetrators smashed two windows and systematically went through the store. Many of the stolen goods are single pieces. Here is a list of all goods stolen from the scene.

Red Light Fashion stopt

Dec. 7th 2008 by Mariana Davelaar (editor)
