3-D Miss Dior Cherie Website Goes Live

Apr. 23rd 2010 by Mariana Davelaar (editor)

Due to its ethereal, intangible qualities, fragrance has historically been one of the most difficult beauty products for brands to communicate to consumers both in print and online.

It’s just one of those items that is best experienced in store.

Not anymore! Miss Dior’s Chérie found a way to break those boundaries with its latest advertising stunt — in the vein of Avatar and Alice in Wonderland, Dior has gone 3-D. Nu niet meer! Chérie

As reported on Style.com, Dior’s new Miss Dior Cherie site brings a 3-D movie experience to your laptop, complete with instructions to print out the Miss Dior Cherie ad, ready your webcam and room lighting and install plug-in content. Chérie Chérie

Once the webcam takes a picture of your printout, the fun begins. It’s an interactive virtual pop-up book. You can click on elements that will fill you in about the fragrance’s notes (these are 3-D) or you can go to Sofia Coppola’s whimsical commercial for the juice, starring Maryna Linchuk, shot in Paris.

All that’s left is a girly Miss Dior Cherie iPhone app — no doubt it’s on its way. Chérie

Versace and the mobile industry

Jan. 21st 2010 by Mariana Davelaar (editor)

Versace is set to launch a super luxe and super expensive cell phone this May.
Joining runway cohorts Prada and Dolce & Gabbana, who beat Versace to the telecom punch with their own high-end mobile devices, the Italian fashion house is giving its VIP clients a sneak preview of the mobile next week at the haute couture shows in Paris.

In collaboration with ModeLabs Group, the French company that also made cell phones for Christian Dior and watchmaker Tag Heuer, Versace’s handset gives shoppers the option of choosing colors and designer details like leather accents.

“This exciting collaboration is consistent with Versace’s strategy of developing the brand’s strong business potential through a select number of agreements with key international licensing partners,” said Gian Giacomo Ferraris, CEO of Versace.

While the price of the phone has not yet been released, ModeLabs CEO Stéphane Bohbot did give the Wall Street Journal a hint: at retail, Versace’s chic dialer will go for more than Dior’s $5,000 phone. It made us very curios…

John Galliano, Creative director of Dior, designs a Christmas tree for London’s Claridges “Luxury” Hotel. The Christmas tree will be unveiled in the Hotel foyer on December 1st.

The tree will feature sparkling leaves, orchids in silver, white and blue, as well as crystal, giving the impression of the three being frozen.

Galliano’s quote:

“It’s a perfect start for the season!”. “The spirit of Dior and the beauty of Claridges”.

During the start of the season there will be all sorts of events with a lot of entertainment. We’re all excited to see Galliano’s real creativity on its Christmas tree.
