Sep. 15th 2010 by Majdeline Abbou (former reporter)
Yesterday we visited the 7th edition of RAAK Amsterdam in Zuiveringhal West at the Westergasterrein in Amsterdam. Jos van Raak, owner of the well-known fashion shop, gave an impressive fashion show. The Models including some Dutch celebrities such as Lieke van Lexmond, Irene van de Laar and Froukje de Both presented the wintercollection for 2010/2011.
The location was transformed into a winter décor and there was even snow. The show consisted of various collections and several colors in emerald green, powder pink and turquoise. A lot of Dutch celebrities visited the show in RAAK style! The show consisted of 3 different rounds. Various sets from the store, with state-of-the-art collection winter trends for 2010/2011. The second round consisted of 18 touch designs made of satin silk, crepe Georgette and sequins with a powerful touch and female forms. AIFW: Daryl van Wouw
Jul. 20th 2010 by Majdeline Abbou (former reporter)One of the highlights of Amsterdam International Fashion Week last week was Daryl van Wouw. Daryl was the conversation of the week and indeed!
The show started much later than expected. It was fully packed, that there were no seatings or standing places left anymore. Last Saturday Daryl showed his Spring/Summer collection inspired by the song ‘Paradise Circus’ of the American band Massice Attack. This collection is totally different then we expected from Daryl.
No ‘street’ look this time. But loud colors such as green, yellow, blue and red in all models hair. Daryl showed different designs like short dresses, shorts, jumpsuits and leather sandals. For all lovers he also showed some designs made of (soft) leather.
Particularly the show had a foreign look. I said it before, no ‘street’ look but we could call it ‘Street Chic’.

AMFI Fashion show
Jun. 24th 2010 by Fesjon Guest EditorGuest Editor for a week: Ralph Lemarechal
In January the AMFI students (Amsterdam Fashion Institute) contacted me to shoot their show and I said yes. I love to report students because they have everything to prove, they still have a bit of freedom before the industry crushes them with their rules and expectations.
I requested to do only backstage shoots, I already do a lot of runway and I prefer to be backstage because you, see the models come ‘raw’ and slowly become the character they will be for a few seconds on the runway. Great ambiance, often frantic, and a great energy level.
First couture show Sepehr Maghsoudi during the opening of FMW
May. 16th 2010 by Ashley Veraart (former Fesjon author)
Saturday the 15th of May Sepehr Maghsoudi opened the Fashion Museum Week with his first couture show in the Fashion Hotel in Amsterdam. Sepehr is mostly known for his participation on the TV show Project Catwalk and his designs for the 140 year anniversary of the Bijenkorf. The evening’s setup is rather small, with a simple black carpet that serves as a catwalk. The show starts promising with live violin music and Liza Sips as a model, better known as Vicky from the dutch soap serie GTST, in a futuristic design with striking angular forms.
After four creations were shown, the show was interrupted for the announcement of the winner of the Fashion Museum Award. A surprise for the winner, couturier Addy van den Krommenacker, who receives the award from Sandra Reemer. Afterwards the show starts again and shows us, besides the futuristic creations, also variations on the traditional evening gown and wedding dress. The futuristic creations have a very interesting shape with sharp pointed shoulders and are dark of color with a combination of black and gold. The evening dresses are more subdued and classical and bring more color to the whole through the use of red, purple or white. All in all a beautiful mixture, styled off with big hair and amazing platform heels. Fashion Museum Week will continue to the 22nd of May, with each day another couturier or designer in the spotlights and will end with the third edition of the Dutch model Awards.
