Jul. 3rd 2011 by Manon Bruinekreeft (author)

It’s not a secret that Karl Lagerfeld is a big fan is of supermodel Freja Beha Erichsen. In a lot of Chanel campaigns you can see her and aigain for the coming fall campaigns.

This campaign you can see her with a very striking look. On her forehead is the French quote written. The quote reads ‘Il n’y a pas de mode, si elle ne descend pas dans la rue!’ The quote means in English: ‘There is no fashion if she doesn’t take it to the street!’. We are wondering if Freja is going to walk on the street with this on her forehead.

Karl Lagerfeld shot the photos himself and the styling is done by Carine Roitfield.

Lagerfeld’s life in pictures

Jan. 21st 2011 by Mariana Davelaar (editor)

Designer, artist, photographer, costume designer, weight loss guru, bookshop owner, author and international man of mystery: Karl Lagerfeld is one of fashion’s favourite enigmas. No-one knows when exactly he was born, some say 1938, the local christening register and old school friends say 1933, Lagerfeld himself says neither, or whether his father was Russian, Swedish or German.

He’s famous for his outspoken opinions, having said that he has “no human feelings” and described himself as “a kind of fashion nymphomaniac who never gets an orgasm”, and – in the early Nineties – his controversial antics resulted in Anna Wintour walking out of his Fendi show because he had employed Italian porn star Moana Pozzi to model the collection. Karl’s new muse

Dec. 10th 2010 by Mariana Davelaar (editor)

The “Gossip Girl” star has recently been in Paris filming a new ad campaign for the Chanel fashion house, E! News is reporting. Lively will promote the brand’s handbags in a campaign that will be released in early 2011, according to the news site.

We can’t wait to see how the girl who just landed herself on Vogue’s Best Dressed List embodies the Chanel woman.

In July, the up-and-coming fashion icon was seen brushing shoulders in the front row at the Chanel Haute Couture show during Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week. And in September, she attracted a media swarm when she went out and about with Herr Lagerfeld after the reopening of Chanel’s SoHo outpost in New York City.

Chanel Shows Black & Gold

Apr. 1st 2010 by Mariana Davelaar (editor)

Chanel is dropping new beauty collections like it’s hot: Last week it was aquamarine nail polish and color-pop brights for summer, and today it’s black and gold, in a glamorous spring collection inspired by the Orient.

Based on the look global creative director Peter Philips created for Chanel’s Paris-Shanghai Metiers d’Art fashion show this past December, the collection, called Noir et Or, is a glamorous study of dark and light which juxtaposes matte and shiny textures, and conveys how Coco Chanel perceived Shanghai in the 1930′s and 40′s.

Since 2002, designer Karl Lagerfeld has been showing yearly Metiers d’Art collections as an ode to the skilled artisans responsible for the exquisite details that set Chanel apart. The show takes place in a different city each year; spots have included Moscow, London and New York, along with this season’s Shanghai.

Noir et Or marks the second makeup collection that’s sprung from Metiers d’Art; the first was The Moscow Collection, a cadre of three limited edition, velvety nail polishes Philips created for 2008′s Paris-Moscow show. Standouts from Noir et Or include Le Vernis Nail Color in Black Velvet, a matte black polish, Le Vernis Nail Color in Gold Lame, a satiny gold.

Matte polish is a great way to update your look for spring, and dark nails are also a seasonal must.
