Love in a pink tutu

Feb. 14th 2010 by Mariana Davelaar (editor)

Fashion designer Lynne Bruning, paired up with international fashion blogger Gala Darling to spread Valentine’s Day love in the form of a Pink Fluff Tutu. This was the pair’s second Valentine’s Day global tutu gifting program. To be eligible to win readers of Gala Darling’s blog iCing commented on how and where they wished to wear this pink confection.

Gala Darling’s followers posted 840 comments stating everything from first dates to dancing their heart out in the privacy of their bedroom to seeking revenge for a broken heart. Some creative readers posted poems and others created polyvore sets featuring Lynne Bruning’s tutu.

Comment #508 was randomly selected and Lynne Bruning shipped the Pink Fluff and a special Valentine’s Day card to Rochester, NY where a very happy coffee barista will celebrate Valentine’s Day dressed in style knowing that the universe is a little smaller and much happier this Valentine’s Day.

Lynne Bruning 'Synaptic'
A combination of architecture, fashion, science and textiles is equal to the name Lynne Bruning. A awardwinning designer who lets her creativity loose in several ways. She creates exclusive wearable art by fusing her education in neurophysiology and her Masters degree in architecture.
For example the ‘Synaptic’. A piece of clothing which is based on a scanning electron micrograph of nerve endings, the synapses. The fabric is blacklight reactive and is designed and created to represent this beautiful anatomical computer.

Another example is the wearable cane she made for the blind. ‘Bats Have Feelings Too!’ is a stylish jacket that utilizes an ultrasonic range finder to assist the visually impaired with navigating the built environment. This project even gives instructions, so anyone can make this coat.Lynne Bruning 'Bats'

It’s obvious that Lynne Bruning is not just another designer. She is an artist and I can assure you that we will hear a lot more from her.
