’Come out and play’ with Roparosa

Jul. 21st 2010 by Amy Simpe (former Fesjon author)

Amsterdam – Roos van de Kamp started her label Roparose -meaning Rosa’s clothes – won the Dutch edition of Project Catwalk. Part of her prize was a chance to show a collection at Amsterdam’s International Fashion Week. Last Sunday she got the chance to do so.

It was a hot outside and it was hot in the salon. Some visitors used their fans from Redken to scare the heat away. It wasn’t until the first model hit the runway that I forgot about the heat.

The Collection Roos had show the jury during the finally of Project Catwalk aroused lots of controversy. Some people did not believe that she had done all the work herself.  Ans so expectations were set high. Would she be able to do what she had done before? With a new concept and the same quality?

First couture show Sepehr Maghsoudi during the opening of FMW

May. 16th 2010 by Ashley Veraart (former Fesjon author)

The Catwalk
Saturday the 15th of May Sepehr Maghsoudi opened the Fashion Museum Week with his first couture show in the Fashion Hotel in Amsterdam. Sepehr is mostly known for his participation on the TV show Project Catwalk and his designs for the 140 year anniversary of the Bijenkorf. The evening’s setup is rather small, with a simple black carpet that serves as a catwalk. The show starts promising with live violin music and Liza Sips as a model, better known as Vicky from the dutch soap serie GTST, in a futuristic design with striking angular forms.

After four creations were shown, the show was interrupted for the announcement of the winner of the Fashion Museum Award. A surprise for the winner, couturier Addy van den Krommenacker, who receives the award from Sandra Reemer. Afterwards the show starts again and shows us, besides the futuristic creations, also variations on the traditional evening gown and wedding dress. The futuristic creations have a very interesting shape with sharp pointed shoulders and are dark of color with a combination of black and gold. The evening dresses are more subdued and classical and bring more color to the whole through the use of red, purple or white. All in all a beautiful mixture, styled off with big hair and amazing platform heels. Fashion Museum Week will continue to the 22nd of May, with each day another couturier or designer in the spotlights and will end with the third edition of the Dutch model Awards.

Apr. 13th 2010 by Philippine Kaiser (former Fesjon reporter)

In a remarkable way, designer Janice (known from the tv-show Project Catwalk) showed his new ready-to-wear FW/10 collection at the College Hotel in Amsterdam. The suites 108, 109 and 110 each had their own scene, with their own experience of fragrance, Music and visuals. By which the visitors were extra triggered for an ultimate experience of this new collection. And all of this was; in Jazz-style…

In Janice’s new collection a strong modern women stays central. By using lots of dark tones like black and blue, Janice shows femininity, with some tuff details.

The collection of Janice is available in luxury shops. By this he uses an interesting rule; from every piece of design there are only 100 available. Therefore  the clothing will stay exclusive!
