Feb. 4th 2012 by Mariana Davelaar (editor)

The decision to release the AW11 Fred Perry/Amy Winehouse Collaboration by Amy’s family after her tragic death in August 2011 and the commitment to launch the SS12 collection has proved a fitting tribute to the iconic singer with both ranges well received by fans and Amy aficionados.

The SS12 was the last collection that Amy worked on and she again designed a range of clothes that was very typically Amy; sexy, stylish and individual.

Azzedine Alaïa 21st century

Jan. 10th 2012 by Mariana Davelaar (editor)

Azzedine Alaïa is one of the last major living couturiers. The exhibition focuses on Alaia’s work in the 21st Century. It is the sequel to the presentation of his designs from previous decades, also shown at the Groninger Museum in 1997-1998, and which subsequently travelled to the Brant Foundation, Guggenheim Soho in New York in 2000. Tunisian-born Azzedine Alaïa is one of the most important fashion designers of the last decades. The name Alaïa stands for glamour, sensuality, style, cut, self-confidence, comfort and, of course, sex appeal. His tight dresses embrace the bodies of the world’s most seductive and successful women.

This exhibition displays the most fantastic Alaïa fashion creations of the last ten years. Each room in the exhibition will focus on a different material that Azzedine Alaïa has consistently used over the past decade: velvet, fur, wool, leather, cotton, animal skins, chiffon and knitwear.

Marc Jacobs stays where he is.

Jan. 9th 2012 by Mariana Davelaar (editor)

Not moving to Dior ‘was probably best for everyone’ according to Marc Jacobs.
It is set to be a big year for Louis Vuitton. A major exhibition opens on March 9 at the Musée des Arts Decoratifs in Paris, called simply ‘Louis Vuitton – Marc Jacobs’, spread over two floors, each one devoted to the life and work of each man.
“It’s a really great honour,’ Jacobs told the Telegraph . “It’s going to be a super animated, really great exhibition. I’m really proud of everyone here, proud for everyone here. As a New Yorker, I love Paris and I never in my wildest dreams as a teenager dreamed I would have a job working for this big luxury company. Now 15 years on, there is this thing at the Musée des Arts Decoratifs at the Louvre – it is really beyond my wildest dreams. It makes me very emotional – in a good way.”
