Anderhalve week geleden vond op het Westergasterrein in Amsterdam de fashionbattle plaats voor een finale plaats voor de titel “Miss shopVIP 2009″.  De 39 recessionista’s die een halve finale plekje wisten te bemachtigen kregen de opdracht om een filmpje te maken van zichzelf en moesten een modeblog schrijven.

Maandag aan het einde van de middag in het Transformatorhuis op het Westergasterrein in Amsterdam vindt de finale plaats voor de titel miss shopVIP 2009. De roze loper is al uitgerold en mondjesmaat komen de gasten binnen. In het Transformatorhuis staat er een enorm podium met op het podium 12 grote blokken, wat later kasten blijken te zijn, die gezamenlijk “shopVIP.com” spellen. Voor het podium staan er een 40-tal spier wittebanken met goodie bags.A week and a half ago the semi-finale for the title “miss shopVIP 2009″ took place at the Westergasterrein in Amsterdam. The 39 recessionista’s got a hold of a spot in the semi-finale were given an assignment they needed to make a home-video about themselves and they had to write a fashion blog.

Monday afternoon the finale of the title “Miss shopVIP 2009″ took place at the Transformatorhuis at the Westergasterrein in Amsterdam.
The pink carpet was already unrolled and guests are coming in dribs and drabs. Inside there is a big stage on stage there are 12 big blocks, what seems to be closets, that spelled “shopVIP.com”. In front of the stage there are fourty white seats with goodie bags on them.
Op de achtergrond is lekkere dansmuziek te horen, de eerste BN’ers komen binnen  iedereen is druk in gesprek en drinken een cocktail dat hun wordt aangeboden. Rond kwart over 5 nemen alle gasten plaats op de witte banken, Bastiaan van Schaik opent het event met een korte intro. Van de 39 recessionista’s die over waren van de vorige ronde zijn er nu, aan de hand van hun filmpjes en/of blog stukje, slechts 12 meiden over gebleven. Na de bekendmaking van de jury bestaande uit Michou Basu (mode journalist van de Telegraaf), Maria Kooistra ( fashionista en vintage-verzamelaarster), Anouk Smulders ( lifestyle deskundige bij RTL Boulevard) en Hilmar Mulder (hoofdredacteur van Grazia), worden de 12 finalisten aan het publiek bekend gemaakt door middel van een filmpje.At the background dance music is playing, the first celebs are entering, everybody is having a conversation and drinking cocktails. About a quarter past 5 the guests are taking place on the white seats, Bastiaan van Schaik opens the event with a short intro. Based on their home-video and fashionblog only 12 contestants continue the battle. After announcing the jury, existing out of Michou Basu (fashionjournalist from the Telegraaf), Maria Kooistra (fashionista and vintage-collector), Anouk Smulders (lifestyle-expert at RTL Boulevard) and Hilmar Mulder (editor-in-chief from fashion magazine Grazia), the final 12 contestants are announced to the public with a video.

Vanaf 8 uur waren de 12 deelnemers al aanwezig om aan hun laatste opdracht te werken, namelijk het inrichten van een kast dat hun eigen stijl weergeeft. De kasten worden onthuld aan de juryleden en voor de laatste keer krijgen de deelneemsters de kans om de jury te overtuigen. Van de 12 recessionista’s blijven er uiteindelijk nog maar 6 over.
De jury trekt zich terug voor beraad en Viggo Waas (cabaretier, acteur, televisie programmamaker, schrijver en zanger) deelt zijn kijk op fashion en de recessie. Zijn conclusie luidt ” ga in een warm land wonen dan heb je niet zo veel kleding nodig”. Na zijn menig te hebben gedeeld draagt hij de winnende modeblog voor dat geschreven is door Thessalie Post. From 8 AM the recessionista’s were working on their last assignment, arrange a closet with your own style. The closets were turned around and each of the contestants went to their own closet, they had a last chance to convince the jury. Finally 6 of the 12 recenssionistas are remaining. The judges went backstage to decide who will be miss shopVip 2009 in the mean while Viggo Waas (cabaret performer, actor, television producer, writer and singer) is sharing his thoughts about fashion and the recession. His conclusion is “go live in a hot country so you don’t need a lot of clothes”.  After sharing his thoughts he reads the winning fashionblog that was written by Thessalie Post.

De jury heeft niet lang nodig om tot een besluit te komen wie miss shopVIP 2009 zal zijn. De 22 jarige Robin Knitter mag zichzelf miss shopVIP 2009 noemen buiten de felbegeerde titel wint ze ook nog een jaar lang gratis shoppen op shopvip.com, een professionele fotoshoot gestyled door Bastiaan van Schaik, een maandelijkse shopVIP Sale shoot en een persoonlijke blog op de ShopVIP Community.The jury didn’t need a lot of time to make their decision.
