De krediet crisis heeft de mode wereld voorlopig nog goed in zijn greep. Modelabels die er al niet goed voor stonden moeten nu hun deuren sluiten. De grote namen zijn flink aan het bezuinigen geslagen campagne kosten mogen niet te hoog zijn en zelfs de grote show als de New York Fashion Week worden afgezegd.
In plaats daarvan nodigen ze hun clientèle uit voor een private show of showen ze hun collectie via het internet.
Namen als Donna Karan, Marc Jacobs, Vera Wang, Anna Sui, Valentino, Betsey Johnson houden het voor gezien dit jaar. Er zullen zeker wel meerdere grote namen volgen.
