Bold lips have been a hot trend for Fall, and the French luxury brand is playing the craze to full tilt with its version of a blood red lip gloss and lipstick in the new Vintage Holiday 2010 makeup collection, set to launch in October. “It will be all about the drama of a red lip this holiday,” said Givenchy’s international makeup artist, Dominique Lehongre at a recent New York launch event. “Het draait allemaal om de dramatische effect van de rode lipstick aankomende feestdagen.” vertelt Dominique Lehongre, internationaal makeup artist van Givenchy, tijden een lanchering in New York.

You’ll have to adjust your makeup to pull it off with style. Well-groomed brow, neutral eye makeup and several coats of black mascara are musts when wearing a vibrant red lip. Om deze stijl volledig tot zijn recht te laten komen is het noodzakelijk dat je je makeup erop aanpast. Goed verzorgde wenkbrauwen, neutrale oog makeup en een lagen zwarte mascara is een must in combinatie met rode lippen.

An evened-out, soft complexion should be the base of your look. Een egale, zachte teint moet als basis dienen voor deze look.

“When women pick out foundations, they tend to pick shades that are too dark. If you’re between two colors, always go for the light one,” advises Lehongre. “Wanneer vrouwen een foundation uitzoeken kiezen ze altijd een tint die net te donker is. Als je net tussen twee kleuren valt ga dan altijd voor de lichte versie,” adviseerd Lehongre.

When it comes to red lipstick, you can wear it any time of the day. But with a lip liner trick you can help make it more appropriate for day or night use. By day, try a nude liner to brighten and lighten the lipstick shade and your look, and in the evening choose a deeper, brown-red liner, which will make the very same lipstick look much more intense. Als het gaat om rode lipstick, kan je het op elk tijdstip van de dag dragen. Maar met een eenvoudige lip liner truc kan je de kleur meer geschikt maken voor over dag of avond gebruik. Voor overdag probeer een nude kleur liner op deze manier maar je de lipstick kleur iets helderder en maakt je look wat lighter. Voor de avond kies dan een donkere, bruin/rode liner dat maakt dezelfde lipstick meer intens.
