In case the promise of meeting designers and stylish celebs isn’t enticing enough, the organizers of Fashion’s Night Out have announced plans for the biggest runway show in New York City history to whet the appetite of consumers.

The blockbuster event, which is slated to take place on September 7th at Lincoln Center, will feature over 200 of the industry’s top models wearing clothes plucked straight from the racks based on the Fall 2010 trends selected by Vogue editors.

“We felt it is important for people see what wonderful fashion will be in stores at that moment,” said Anna Wintour, the magazine’s editor in chief. “This show will focus on the key trends we’ve identified for Fall so that shoppers will have plenty of inspiration to join the fun during Fashion’s Night Out.”

This summer, roughly 1,500 people will be able to purchase tickets to the runway extravaganza via the Lincoln Center box office, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting The New York City AIDS Fund.

“Making fashion and design accessible and exciting for everyone was one of our biggest goals when we first set out to launch Fashion’s Night Out,” said NYC & Company CEO George Fertitta.

“This fashion show is yet another great opportunity to showcase the industry’s exceptional talent to a broader audience. On behalf of the City, I applaud Vogue’s foresight and look forward to kicking-off a new NYC tradition at the new permanent location for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Lincoln Center.”

The official shopping evening takes place just three days later on September 10th, but given the rash of recent announcements about FNO (i.e. a limited edition clothing line and a CBS special), we’re sure style connoisseurs are already revving up those credit cards.

What (not) to wear in 2010

Dec. 23rd 2009 by Menieke de Ruiter (former author)

Ed Hardy swimwear 2010In 2010 we’d  also want to look at our best but even more important: Not looking like a disaster! What were about to see in 2010 is actually as few as possible! Meaning: Less fabric or see through fabric. Especially your legs can by shown off this summer. So you can get your shorts and tiny skirts out of that dusty box again.

This also concerns your swimwear. Although bathing suits are making there come back in 2010, this doesn’t mean you can pull it out of the same box.  For the bathing suits also applies less fabric is more. At least a lot of little peaces of fabric and much skin in between. So your not getting smoothly tanned in the summer of 2010. Ofcourse you can always rely on: Your backyard!

The nice thing about 2010 is that our feet finally can relax. Flats are an absolute must have next year! Even Anna Wintour has put her high heels on a shelf, so why shouldn’t we?

But before you start to shiver on the fabric-less idea, in the time coming you can find comfort in your woolen sweater!

Love,

Menieke

Did Oliver Theyskens leave Nina Ricci ?

Dec. 24th 2008 by Mariana Davelaar (editor)

He is applaud by many big names like Anna Wintour and already has an impressive Curriculum Vitae build up when it’s revered to styling the celebrities. His clothes above all are only sold by the most exclusive businesses like Barney’s, Saks and Neimann Marcus.

Nevertheless the board of Nina Ricci thinks differently about it. The rumor is that Olivier Theyskens is leaving the company because of disagreements. This is a possibility because of the disappointing responses of his 2009 spring collection. If his departure is official … ?

De modewereld schudt op haar grondvesten

Nov. 19th 2008 by Mariana Davelaar (editor)

Volgens geruchten zou “the iron lady of fashion” Anna Wintour (59) ermee stoppen.
