Rocking your Residence

Dec. 1st 2010 by Mariana Davelaar (editor)

The brand-new Dutch ‘Street Gear’ brand showing that fashion & lifestyle can be combined with sound quality & perception. The brand is ‘in tune’ with the latest trends of street audio, art and fashion. The founders were inspired by the graffiti crew from The Hague when they started with Rocking Residence (RocRes), the crew ‘knock prowl around the district’ of The Hague  in the nineties with their amazing street art.
This inspiration they used as ‘spark’ for their first series of headphones and in-ears. Rocking Residence is an initiative of Sweex and is established by Regina Romeijn and Reneé Vervoorn, who are putting a rough & authentic brand on to the market.

Lynne Bruning

Oct. 23rd 2009 by Karlijn de Vries (former author)

Lynne Bruning 'Synaptic'
A combination of architecture, fashion, science and textiles is equal to the name Lynne Bruning. A awardwinning designer who lets her creativity loose in several ways. She creates exclusive wearable art by fusing her education in neurophysiology and her Masters degree in architecture.
For example the ‘Synaptic’. A piece of clothing which is based on a scanning electron micrograph of nerve endings, the synapses. The fabric is blacklight reactive and is designed and created to represent this beautiful anatomical computer.

Another example is the wearable cane she made for the blind. ‘Bats Have Feelings Too!’ is a stylish jacket that utilizes an ultrasonic range finder to assist the visually impaired with navigating the built environment. This project even gives instructions, so anyone can make this coat.Lynne Bruning 'Bats'

It’s obvious that Lynne Bruning is not just another designer. She is an artist and I can assure you that we will hear a lot more from her.
