Amsterdam – No hordes little girls, but grown women gather last Saturday July 10th on the first floor of de Bijenkorf in Amsterdam for the Barbie fashionshow. Dutch fashion designers Bas Kosters, Claes Iversen, Miss Blackbirdy, Spijkers en Spijkers, Ady van Den Krommenacker en Supertrash designed clothes with Barbie as their inspiration.
The results were cute, chic, edgy or simple and the real-life Barbies modeling the designs had überlong eyelashes, wore big hair with the matching bangs.

Barbie will be 50 in March 2009. This auspicious event will be celebrated with a very own fashion collection developed by various famous fashion designers.
Outfits in the entire collection represent Barbie’s specific taste. Toy plant Mattel keeps the designers names secret. But Women’s Wear Daily revealed that Jeremy Scott and Vera Wang will work on the project. Diane Von Furstenberg, head of The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA), also declared her cooperation. The collection will even be shown at New York fashion week!
