Bold lips have been a hot trend for Fall, and the French luxury brand is playing the craze to full tilt with its version of a blood red lip gloss and lipstick in the new Vintage Holiday 2010 makeup collection, set to launch in October.

“It will be all about the drama of a red lip this holiday,” said Givenchy’s international makeup artist, Dominique Lehongre at a recent New York launch event.

The Makeup by D&G

Sep. 2nd 2010 by Mariana Davelaar (editor)

Some may be drawn to Scarlett Johansson’s sexy curves in Dolce & Gabbana The Makeup’s Fall 2010 advertising campaign, but we can’t get past her lips.

A mainstay on the Fall 2010 runways, deep purple lips stood out on the Dolce & Gabbana, Peter Som, Proenza Schouler (who’s also featuring dark lips in their Fall ad campaign) and Doo.ri fashion shows. It’s a racy, heart-pumping and fiercely feminine trend that stands in welcome rebellion to the neutral, sculpted face we saw at many other top shows.

“We went all out with contrast, the kind of contrast that makes a real statement,” says Dolce & Gabbana collaborator Pat McGrath, “It’s really all about the lips-very shiny and dark, super sexy. I downplayed the eyes, which are still gorgeous, but it’s a subtle kind of power. I was going for a look that is very much about ‘now’ but is also ultra Dolce & Gabbana, capturing their ultimate signature look for beauty. Very suggestive, mysterious- yet still very bold. To me, that’s what the fall is all about.”

Les Khakis de Chanel

Aug. 25th 2010 by Mariana Davelaar (editor)

It was the night Chanel Nail Vernis in Jade, the minty green shade that, given its prominent positioning on the finger tips of just about every film star and fashionista, is in our minds the official nail color of Fall 2009, was first made available to the public.

This year, Chanel is keeping with the FNO manicure, but this time it’s courtesy of a trio of on-trend shades that global creative director Peter Philips created exclusively for the evening. In three different tones of khaki rose, brown, and green, the Les Khakis de Chanel will be available for $25 per bottle in Chanel boutiques, on Chanel.com and in select department stores.
The shades are flatteringly flesh-tone to enhance every skin color.

LaToya Jackson’s Dream Cream

La Toya (sister of beloved Michael) Jackson will star in the new ad campaign for German beauty brand Alessandro International.

WWD reports that the company brought their new spokesperson to the Beauty International trade show in Dusseldorf , where they launched a new high-end hand cream called Dream Cream.

The Swarovski-blinged out 100ml jar will set you back about $226. For that price, it ought to contain diamond dust, a trend we’ve seen in beauty products in the past year. The luxe cream is meant to last through multiple hand washings and in addition to precious gems, contains anti-aging peptides and hydrating shea butter. It is scented with vanilla, sweet almond and patchouli. Read More
