Viva Glam by M.A.C.

Aug. 25th 2010 by Mariana Davelaar (editor)

Haven’t you tried the latest crop of M.A.C. Viva Glam lipsticks yet? Inspired by Lady Gaga and Cindy Lauper, the line were launched this past spring and are still selling strong.

And now, this September, the brand is releasing two limited-edition complementary shades of LipGlass, Gaga is a cotton-candy pink and Cindy is a reddish coral. Both equally love-able and  thanks to their sheer formulas, a little easier to wear.

The singers are featured in M.A.C.’s “From Our Lips” campaign, designed to speak to the challenges women face as the fastest new group affected by HIV/AIDS around the world.

Viva Life, Viva Glam

Sharon Osbourne recently spoke with Cindy Lauper and Lady Gaga about HIV and Aids for the new M.A.C. Viva Glam campaign. These three iconic women have come together to have an open and honest conversation about this sensitive subject. M.A.C started selling lipstick today from which 100% of the gainings will go to the M.A.C Aids Fund. This Fund will cooperate with pharmaceutical companies that produce women condoms, so that women can get more control and make their own decisions about their body. In a lot of countries women are still held back and are not allowed to make their own choices. That’s why an initiative like this is very important.

The message that Cindy and Gaga want to spread is particularly about a sisterhood-feeling. Cindy finds it beautiful that lipstick is being used as a symbol for spreading words and breaking the Aids taboo by making this topic discussion-able in our society. By this campaign they hope to stimulate safe sex and make people aware of the effects of STD, HIV and Aids.

Lady Gaga doesn’t think that people are just as conscious about HIV and Aids in the 80s. “72% of the sexually active women in the Uk have never been tested on STD, HIV and Aids. That’s shocking! It’s cool to get yourself tested.”

Cindy Lauper says that if you love yourself, you should look out for yourself. “The Viva Glam lipstick will constantly remind us: spread the word, not the disease. Don’t be a knucklehead, take care of yourself!”

There are 2 new lipsticks coming out, Viva Glam Gaga (a fresh bright pink color) and Viva Glam Cindy (a coral red color) and they will be available from March 5th.
