Marloes Blaas SS11

Marloes Blaas                                                                                                                                                                                                                    SS 11 ‘Derived’

Last Thursday I watched some trendy farmergirls parade on the catwalk of Marloes Blaas´fashionshow.
The countryside feeling was emphasized by a guitarsolo on the background. Marloes got her inspiration for the SS11 show from the countryside live after the second world war.
We´ve watched a beautiful leather apron, an armygreen overall, painted silk fabrics and flexible forms. Especially the colors kaki, beige, blue and grey were very well represented.
I wasn´t only impressed by the leather apron, the shorts with extra pockets (perfect for festivals) and the long, silk dress but also by the atmosphere which was so well implemented in the whole show. Get over here with that overall, I want to live the farmerlife too!

The present past by Marloes Blaas

Feb. 5th 2010 by Mariana Davelaar (editor)

Marloes completed her master year at the Fashion Institute Arnhem in 2009 and presented her collection, ‘Tolinger” during the Paris and Amsterdam International Fashion Week. This gave her the drive and motivation to continue her work as a designer.

As a designer Marloes have always been interested in old an traditional patterns. It always claims a roll in her collections, in shape, material en craft. That is why she is always looking for old tailoring and functionality in clothing.

The collections was made from wool, cotton, leather and silk. We saw knitting and a lot of embroidery. Natural colours like browns, beige, creme and whites where the main colours. Blue was the only colour accent that was used. The collection is based on old patterns patterns.

A collection that brings the past into the present.

Before Amsterdam International Fashion Week started Fesjon got the opportunity to interview Marloes.
