Karl Lagerfeld’s photography exhibition in Paris
Aug. 18th 2010 by Mariana Davelaar (editor)
You’ll need to be in Paris during the Ready to wear Spring/Summer 2011 collections (September 29 – October 7) and be sure to stop by the Maison Européenne de la Photographie to catch a dedicated exhibition of Karl Lagerfeld’s photography. Lagerfeld is famous for his love of the medium: he shoots all of Chanel’s ad campaigns and is the author of several photographic books, including recent “The Beauty of Violence”, which featured intimate portraits of his muse Baptiste Giabiconi and also “Metamorphoses of an American”, which focuses on male model Brad Kroenig.
And besides his day job in fashion, he also holds the reins of 7L, a photography bookshop in Paris situated beneath his photography studio. The selection of books on sale there mirrors the Karl’s personal passions – a melée of rare and vintage books, photography tomes and edgy magazines.
The exhibition runs from September 10 to October 15. For more information La mep.
Jean Paul Gaultier going home furnishing
May. 8th 2010 by Mariana Davelaar (editor)Jean Paul Gaultier’s upcoming new home furnishings line for Roche Bobois, set to debut in the coming months, WWD reports.
While details are scarce at this time, the French designer is giving us a glimpse of his interior skills with the Elle Decoration Suite in Paris, his makeover of the former Parisian apartment of ’30s-era architect Jacques Carlu, according to a press release.
Open to the public from May 8 until October 2011, the Roche Bobois-sponsored suite features nautical and natural details, such as navy striped walls and garden prints.
“Clothes are my vocation, and as I only know how to dress, I dressed this Elle Decoration Suite… with various notes that already reside in my collections,” Gaultier says in the release, citing green, marine, reflective and satin influences.
We suspect the designer, who’s been keeping busy with collaborations with Target, Melissa and Pataugas, will follow a similar route with his home furnishings line.
But until we know for sure, we’ll just have to book a flight to Paris to check out his apartment.

The covers of Vogue are shining for years. From 1920 this magazine gives an ode to women, fashion and art. In Paris they’re aware of the fact that all these episodes are pieces of jewelery. That’s certainly why the most beautiful covers are being showed during the one-month exhibition ‘Vogue Covers’ at the Champs-Elysées.
There will also be a book with a lot of illustrations, stories, interviews and a view of a whole century of fashion trough the eyes of Vogue.
