The Makeup by D&G

Sep. 2nd 2010 by Mariana Davelaar (editor)

Some may be drawn to Scarlett Johansson’s sexy curves in Dolce & Gabbana The Makeup’s Fall 2010 advertising campaign, but we can’t get past her lips.

A mainstay on the Fall 2010 runways, deep purple lips stood out on the Dolce & Gabbana, Peter Som, Proenza Schouler (who’s also featuring dark lips in their Fall ad campaign) and Doo.ri fashion shows. It’s a racy, heart-pumping and fiercely feminine trend that stands in welcome rebellion to the neutral, sculpted face we saw at many other top shows.

“We went all out with contrast, the kind of contrast that makes a real statement,” says Dolce & Gabbana collaborator Pat McGrath, “It’s really all about the lips-very shiny and dark, super sexy. I downplayed the eyes, which are still gorgeous, but it’s a subtle kind of power. I was going for a look that is very much about ‘now’ but is also ultra Dolce & Gabbana, capturing their ultimate signature look for beauty. Very suggestive, mysterious- yet still very bold. To me, that’s what the fall is all about.”

Scarlett for InStyle’s May Cover

May. 10th 2010 by Mariana Davelaar (editor)

Everything’s coming up… Scarlett?

We’ve gotten a double dose of the lovely Miss Johansson this month — not that we’re complaining.

Last week we showed you the star’s dreamy new summer campaign for Mango. Now, we’ve got our hands on her even dreamier cover for the May InStyle.

Marking a sharp contrast from the magazine’s technicolor April cover starring Gwen Stefani, this month’s cover shows a dewy-faced, ringlet-curled Johansson getting her art deco glamour girl on in a pale pink gown.

Photographed by Michelangelo Di Battista, Johansson also heats up the inside pages while boasting glossy lips, a violet top and a luxurious diamond necklace.
The “Iron Man 2″ actress opened up to the magazine about her chill lifestyle.

“You’re not going to find me at 4am hitting up the club, bottle full of bub,” she claims.

“Maybe on a rare occasion. But I’ve just never been much of a clubby, nightlife kind of person. I’m not a social butterfly. I’ve never been part of a scandal that was really juicy,” she says.

Hey, if we were married to Ryan Reynolds, we’d stay home too.

Dreamy Mango Summer 2010 Campaign

May. 7th 2010 by Mariana Davelaar (editor)

Summertime… and the living’s easy.

Or at least that’s how Scarlett Johansson makes it look in her dreamy new Summer 2010 campaign for Mango.

Dubbed “Summer Light,” the collection marks Johannson and photographer Mario Sorrenti’s fourth joint outing for the Spanish retailer.

This time, however, the duo has ditched the black eyeliner and vampy poses for a romantic, dreamy and natural look, punctuated by strongly defined eye brows. One of Fall 2010′s hottest beauty trends, bold brows were a staple on the runways of Prada, Micheal Kors and Erin Wasson x RVCA, and are already being adopted into the everyday beauty lexicon by style-conscious starlets.

Johannson models sexy white sundresses, breezy pastel tops and a boho-chic denim vest in the shots, which exude a quiet ’60s-flavored charm.

The collection is focused on heavenly blue and white pieces, feminine florals and frills, paisley prints and more…
